The plane was seized at Ben Gurion international airport in Israel's Tel Aviv. Belonging to Yakutsk-based Yakutia Airlines, it was stopped from returning with 114 passengers to Krasnodar.

'Another aircraft was sent to Israel,' said a statement from the airline. 'The total delay in time was 28 hours.' Passengers were provided with hotel accommodation at the airport. The arrest was at the behest of Dutch aircraft leasing company AerCap, it is understood.

'The company is currently negotiating  the situation with the leasing company', said a statement. The airline has a fleet of 27 aircraft and has  implemented a recapitalization in the amount of over 1.3 billion rubles ($20.8 million) to pay off the debts.
