Attack on home of Siberian journalist brings swift response from local governor

The Kemerovo region journalist managed to extinguish the blaze but his wife and child were taken to hospital.

Kemerovo Region governor Aman Tuleyev took the investigation under his personal control and sent his deputy Vladimir Bannikov to the city of Novokuznetsk, where the incident took place, reported RIA Novosti.

'A door to apartment of journalist Rostislav Bardokin was douched with gasoline and set on fire today at 4am,' said an official statement.

The identity of the attackers is unknown and the motive not clear. Bardokin declined to comment. 

There are a high number of attacks on journalists in Russia, according to international comparative statistics.
