The yeti - believed to be less than a year old - is in the care of officials of the Russian emergencies ministries. Believed to be female, she was found by geologists working in a remote area.
'The scientists think she lost her mother and became hungry and disorientated', said a spokeswoman. 'She is being fed milk from a baby bottle.'
The yeti was flown out of the remote mountainous area by helicopter after being found two days ago, reported Russian news agencies.
Vetinerary experts have made a preliminary examination and found the animal is 'unlike any others known to exist in the world'.
A team from the Russian Academy of Sciences are 'currently examining the yeti at a secret location'.
The creature - 'covered in thick brown hair' - will be revealed to the world at a press conference later today in Kemerovo city, say officials. It is the first time one of the creatures has been caught - and many people even doubted the existence of the 'legendary' abominable snowman, despite many historical accounts.
'This is the moment we have been waiting for,' said Dr Igor Burtsev, who has devoted his life to finding a yeti.
Archeologists discovered a new stone bracelet, two sharp pins, a marble ring and fox tooth pendants.
