How this fearsome bolt of lighting struck mother and her six year old daughter

The mother-of-two suffered severe injuries and her daughter is also in a serious condition in hospital.

The pair were walking home in heavy rain after getting out of a 'route taxi bus'.

Witnesses say the lightning struck the umbrella that Tatiana was holding as they walked home to their village of Troitskoe village in Omsk region.

She is now in intensive care in an Omsk hospital with severe burns.

Alexandra has 25% skin burns and is in intensive care in a children's hospital.

'It was about 6pm when we got a call about lightning hitting a woman and a child near Troitskoe village,' said a police spokesman. 

A witness called Elena said: 'I was walking just some metres behind them. The woman was holding an umbrella, her daughter was walking next to her. It was a heavy shower. Then there came a bright lightning flash - and that was it, both of them were on the ground. We ran to them, tried to call ambulance but the mobile did not work because of the rain, then we began to stop the passing cars.'

They were taken to a police station and the ambulance came there to collect them.

The footage was filmed by a camera in a car approaching the scene.
