The married woman from Irkutsk took out a loan of 980,000 roubles to pay for a meeting with the Aussie star - and lost it all.
The unnamed 42 year old has told police she was fooled at a time when her marriage was in crisis - and she received a Tweet out of the blue from a man purporting to be 35 year old Hemsworth.
In her desperation for some spice in her life she shelled out money to help pay for him to fly to Siberia.
But it was all a cruel hoax.
'Our marriage was going well until recently when we had several serious arguments,' she confessed.
'Our relations went quite sour, and just then the actor sent me a message on Twitter’, she told to a local newspaper.
‘The woman said that she was separately contacted by the actor’s lawyer.' Picture: KP
It read in English: 'Hey, I am Chris Hemsworth, I am a famous actor from Australia, I live in California. You are so pretty, can we chat?’
'I am not a fan, but he is still a very attractive man,' said the Siberian woman.
'I checked him online and saw that he was married and had three children.
'I thought, what if he was in the same situation as I was, that on the face of it we were both married and at the same time very lonely.’
Clinging to this unlikely hope, the mother-of-two said she was messaging ‘Hemsworth’ for two months.
'Chris' has been asking her to meet in Australia, but then said he was coming to Siberia.
An Irkutsk city police source said: ‘The woman said that she was separately contacted by the actor’s lawyer, who told her that ‘Chris’ was going through temporary financial difficulties.
'He needed money to pay for visa, insurance and parking for his private jet in Siberia.
'The lawyer asked her to transfer money and sent her Chris’s driving license as a guarantee of a payback.’

I will have my vengeance, by revealing the true formula.
You can have a Russian ingenue. You can have a Russo-femme of great excitement. You can have a woman of Russia for almost no cost. PICK ANY TWO.
Clearly, Russian Science & Technology has "largely" applied this formula to excellent effect (notwithstanding a certain Lysenko deviation ... for which several pleas can be tabled). Intellectuals, and the academe likewise show at least some talent for it.
The question becomes, did Russian enquiry discover The Formula For Success ('you can arrange the priorities, but must accept the trade-offs'), a.k.a the Trilemma, or was it acquired?
