The North Korean sailor was too weak to explain how he ended up in the Sea of Japan miles away from shore.

He was seen by the crew of Russian ‘Kurilskoye Ozero’ boat several hours after they left Timofeevka village in the Vladimir Bay.

The video shows the boat manoeuvring to keep close to the exhausted man as he holds to two small pieces of foam plastic.

He failed to get the first lifebuoy after a wave pulled him away, but successfully clung to the second one to cheers from the crew.

Three Russian men pulled him to safety.

The North Korean sailor was given a dry change of clothes and warm food. He managed to explain with gestures that he was in the sea for at least 10 hours.

There were no visible injuries on his body.

The sailor was taken to shore by the Russian boarder patrol.

One of the versions from the local media is that the sailor was from one of the North Korean schooners that were recently seen fishing around the Vladimir Bay.
