Prime minister Dmitry Medvedev approved the development plan which envisages a significant boost for the economy of Tyva, also known as Tuva. A key rail link costing 157 billion roubles is set to connect the mining centre of Elegest with the republic's capital Kyzyl and Kuragino in neighbouring Kransoyarsk region.

Better links are seen as vital to expand the economy of mountainous Tyva, which has vast potential as a tourism centre. With scenery rivaling Switzerland, it is a favoured away-from-it-all destination not least for President Vladimir Putin.

Other infrastructure projects include reconstruction of the airport at Kyzyl, power stations and electricity transmission lines. Some 115 million roubles will also be allocated from the federal budget to support the breeding of sheep, goats, horses and deer. Other projects include telecom and internet improvements.

The head of the government Sholban Kara-ool said that even if 25% of the planned investment reaches Tyva, it will greatly boost the development of the region.

'Despite the importance of the government's order, it's a working document,' he said. 'We all will have to work very hard to make what's planned come true.'

Solar farms. Siberian Rail to Omsk.

To visit the largest Solar Farm in Russia, take the Trans-Siberian train from Beijing or Moscow, ( TS-RR ) to Omsk or Novosibirsk.

Take the bus from Novosibirsk to the capital: Kyzyl, in the Altai Region, in the Tuva Republic, to visit the largest Solar Farms in Russia.

This Solar Farm project will generate twice as much energy as Tuva uses,

so they will make $ millions selling solar to local electric trains

& bullet train lines coming from China.

I see in "Siberian Times" usually very high temperatures(today 36º C) for Kyzyl, so it can be a good place for the development of solar energy and tourism, not just from Russia but also from Mongolia and Inner Mongolia (China) given the old cultural links between the three areas, which can be the base for cooperation and trade.

Why do they want to breed horses? Not to slaughter them for food, I hope.

I hope while they're doing all this; they don't harm the environment or spoil the scenery. The beauty of that region is spellbinding.
