Siberian-based S7 Airlines has been named as the world’s most punctual carrier by a respected global flight data company.
According to FlightStats, some 91.36 per cent of all the company’s flights took off on schedule, far outranking the likes of British Airways, American Airlines and Air Canada.
S7, which operates its main base in Novosibirsk, has now held the top slot for two months in succession with the greatest number of flights operating without delays. And in February the airline was second in the world behind only Spanish-based Iberia.
Among the other Russian companies Aeroflot took 8th place in the most recent ranking, with Ural Airlines in 17th place.
Igor Veretennikov, Director of Strategy S7 Airlines, said: 'To achieve maximum punctuality, it is important we have the well-coordinated work of company representatives with airports around the world, as well as good planning in the schedule and the timely maintenance of aircrafts.'
Part of the global airline alliance OneWorld, which features the likes of British Airways, S7 has been Russian’s largest domestic carrier since 2008. With a fleet of 58 aircraft, its main hubs are Domodedovo International Airport and Tolmachevo Airport.
