Horrific bus crash kills 11 and injuries 9 in Krasnoyarsk region

Krasnoyarsk governor Viktor Tolokonsky rushed to the scene of the crash in which 11 people were killed. 

The minibus carrying 16 people was severely mangled in the head-on crash, and most of the dead were women. 

The passenger bus with 25 on board overturned in a ditch, injuring 4. 

Early information suggests the 5am crash on 9 July happened after the 59 year old Hyundai bus driver crossed the centre of the M-54 Yenisei highway in poor visibility.

The driver of minibus was among the dead after the horror. 

The minibus passengers were on their way to the World of Siberia cultural festival from Lesosibirsk to Shushenskoye.

All the inured were taken to to Balakhta District Hospital, and three were then flown to the Regional hospital in Krasnoyarsk by helicopter. 

An official day of mourning was called for 10 July. 

The accident was some 30 kilometres from the settlement of Balakhta, around 170 km from Krasnoyarsk.

Sometimes life is very cruel & death is so suddenly visited, this is/was one such time.

Again, my Condolences to all the families & friends of those who died. RIP.
