The boys made their way several kilometres to the Jaguar showroom in the Urals city of Magnitogorsk. They slid under the fence after digging out the soil for several days, having meticulously planned their escape. They fled from under the noses of their teachers during a late afternoon walk in the grounds of the kindergarten.

Police were alerted immediately, but by then the boys were well on the way.

A woman noticed them outside the Jaguar showroom as they gazed at the expensive cars. They eagerly told her they were there because they wanted a 'grown up car'.

It was unclear how much money they had brought with them.

The children were initially taken to the city's Ordzhonikidze Police station. They were not harmed and were returned safely to their parents, who did not file a formal complaint. Despite this, the head of the group that allowed this to happen was fired, according to reports.

The head of the kindergarten was reprimanded.

Olga Denisenko, acting head of pre-school education, said: 'This is a very serious breach of rules. The head of the group that allowed this to happed was fired.

'The acting head of the kindergarten has been given administrative notice'.

Maybe it is nothing more than a publicity stunt by the car dealership. There sure are a lot of pictures of it.

I'm said to hear that someone had to be fired because of these clever boys. Fire the person who made the decision to fire that group leader!

Yes, they sound like very determined, resourceful little boys. Planning, teamwork, all kinds of higher-level thinking - while they wanted to cruise along in big boy toys.

Great story! These young men clearly put some planning, coordination and determination into their attempt to achieve their common goal. That's quite impressive for five year olds. I hope they at least had a ride in a top of the range Jaguar.

It's a pity anyone had to lose their job over it.
