A criminal case against two men 'linked to the Islamic State terrorist group' has been sent to court, said spokesman for the Investigative Committee (IC), Vladimir Markin.

Other members of the extremist gang fled abroad, it was stated. The act of terror was planned by detainees Rizvan Agashirinov and Abdula Magomedaliyev along with other members of the outlawed group, according to the IC.

Other charges include 'illicit arms trafficking, illegal manufacture of weapons, attempt on the life of a police officer, and illegal deprivation of freedom'. The order for the attack came from an extremist living in Turkey.

Wanted for the alleged crime are Shamil Kadashov, Ilya Plotnikov, Abdula Magomedov and Valekh Amiraliev, now on Russia's international wanted list.

Amiraliev is in Ukraine, but the authorities have failed to answer Russian requests for information on him, it was stated. The motive for the planned attack was not immediately clear.
