Is the beautiful friendship between the tiger and goat about to end?

By The Siberian Times reporter

New video footage shows Amur the tiger lashing at Timur the goat - but then jumping back as if scared of the animal's horns.

The goat was originally pushed into the tiger's compound as the big cat's lunch, but instead the pair became best friends. However, animal experts warned that this odd couple arrangement could not last, and eventually the tiger would eat the goat.

Now the tiger has been filmed showing signs of aggression to the goat... but also evidence of being a wimp. After momentary anger at the goat for coming too close, the tiger is seen pawing his friend.

The goat is unfazed but the tiger jumps back as if fearing the goat will butt him with his horns. In fact, the tiger was being restrained with his paw 'slap': he could kill the goat in a split second if he chose to.

Earlier there was another moment caught on CCTV footage when the tiger lifted his paw to the goat.

The pair have turned into social media stars since they got together in November, and some followers are now deeply concerned for the goat's safety. For weeks, the Siberian tiger had shown no aggression at all. Recent reports explain the goat's bravery by saying it was raised in a yard with a large and aggressive dog, and was used to defending itself.

Meanwhile, Primorsky Safari Park is cashing in on the friendship. It has registered the trademark 'Amur i Timur' (Amur and Timur), and hopes to register the trademark Amur & Timur.  This will allow them to raise more money for souvenirs. Huge crowds descended on the park during the New Year holidays to watch the tiger and goat playing together.

This video proves again that the tiger still sees the goat as a prey, well, or as a toy, and only the fear of goat's horns stops him. He slaps even twice, and it is clearly seen that the slaps are not weak ... very sorry Timur, and sad for him, but it's just business, so in any case they will not be separated, alas.

Timur is in danger, he is too bold: he stands very close and shows his horns. Dangerous...

Stop torturing the animals, they are not in a natural ecosystem but in an artificial environment, why do you put them together, have some pity to them, you  biorobots?

If Amur ever kills Timur, it will be only in self-defence

The goat was very clearly bored and trying to get the tiger's attention whilst all he wanted was being left in alone and rest. The goat's sudden playful attack on the tiger came as a surprise to the tiger who acted spontaneously in self defence. So, nothing to worry about, I have seen similar behaviour many times between our cats and dog.

The tiger's slap appears to be typical feline behavior at being annoyed. I see it among my house cats frequently. Timur should remain with Amur, and let nature take its course, but all feeding of live animals to carnivores at the zoo should be ended. Animals to be fed to carnivores should be killed humanely with a captive-bolt pistol before they are put into the enclosures. Putting a live animal into a carnivore's enclosure to be killed causes unwarranted fear, and pain also, if the carnivore is not experienced in dispatching prey quickly. The only exception to this is if a carnivore is being prepared for release into the wild, which Amur is not.

just keep Amur well fed! but if it is not to be, well so be it. it was beautiful as long as it lasted. and hopefully brought the zoo some extra income. that can and will be used for the animals.and not for a new SUV for the director....
