This extraordinary footage was filmed from a nearby block of flats. Astonishingly there were no casualties according to emergency services. It shows the roof being blown off a block of apartments in fierce winds and sub zero temperatures.

A female voice gasps as she sees the unfolding tragedy.

Female voice: Oh my god how scary it must have been. How good that there were no cars and no people around, isn't it? And it didn't reach the shops.

Male voice, laughing nervously: Look, look (camera points to an obviously shocked pedestrian), a man is running there, he is looking at what happened.

Glad no one was hurt. Still, with such weather, I hope the people living in that building are comfortably accommodated; ideally, the building could be kept habitable so they could just stay there. Maybe, with constant snow removal, there is a way to safely tarp a building that size.

as the planet begins to warm, in levels that were previously unimaginable, the Arctic will be getting warmer than anywhere else, before the rest of the planet heats up. If there are people anywhere near permafrost that is rapidly disintegrating, please take a few moments with a camera to document the changes.
