Lovestruck teenager falls 23 floors - and survives - 'after macho stunt to impress girl'

He climbed over the balcony rail 'to impress a girl', said eyewitnesses, but then could not cling on and fell around 70 metres (230 feet). 

The roof of the white Renault buckled but it saved the teenager by cushioning his fall.

Shadrin, while suffering serious injuries, was - astonishingly - 'conscious' after the accident in Bielovezhskaya Street, Novosibirsk.

The teen was rushed to Hospital Number 34 where he is in a 'stable' condition in intensive care. Had he fallen a little distance either side of the car, and he would have faced certain death. 

The teenager 'climbed over the balcony rails, clung on for sometime, but then couldn't  hang on any longer, and fell onto a car parked below,' said the Novosibirsk branch of the Investigative Committee.

The driver was not inside his vehicle at the time. Investigators have taken statements from witnesses including relatives of the boy. 

The identities of the girl he was seeking to impress, and his relatives have not been made public.
