The new heavy bomber division to be based in Irkutsk and Amur regions will include Tupolev Tu-95MS strategic missile aircraft and Tupolev Tu-22M3 long-range bombers, according to newspaper Izvestia.
A military source said: 'The formation of the division is nearly complete. It will comprise several squadrons of long-haul heavy bombers stationed in the Eastern and the Central military districts.'

It will be tasked with patrolling the Pacific Ocean near Japan, Hawaii and Guam, alongside other missions. The new division is being formed on the basis on the basis of number 6953 Sevastopol-Berlin Red Banner Guards Air Base.
