Rescuers made makeshift rafts to save the group who had become marooned on their early morning fishing trips.
They were alerted by the wife of a fisherman who said her husband was one of those stuck on the floe as water levels increased.
Rescuers wearing wet suits and deploying inflatable boats used tree trunks and bushes to build a way of the icy waters.
Emergency services said more than 140 were saved.
