Bear deliberately chased by trucks and run over, then battered to death with crowbar

By The Siberian Times reporter

Video footage from Yakutia divides opinion: cruelty or necessary because predator was dangerous to people? Inquiry is underway.

The exhausted bear can no longer run away, at which point the multi-ton lorry runs over animal with shouts and cheers from those involved. Picture: Yakutia Online

WARNING: GRAPHIC IMAGES!

The non-hibernating brown bear was killed by shift workers at a remote plant in Yakutia, also called the Sakha Republic in eastern Russia. The video, filmed on a mobile phone, shows how workers in a Ural truck chase the animal in deep snow.

The exhausted bear can no longer run away, at which point the multi-ton lorry runs over animal with shouts and cheers from those involved. The driver moves forward, then pulls back, trying to kill the bear.

Surprisingly, even after such torture the bear was still alive and humbly awaits its fate. It tried to escape, but then a second Ural lorry ran over the ailing animal.

Trapped under two front wheels, the workers finish it off with a crowbar to the head.

The footage has caused a mixed reaction. Some say the bear - which failed to hibernate - posed a serious risk to people, and there was an angry debate on social media. Such animals are known to be aggressive.

But yucatan said: 'I would love to do the same to these bastards! They should not kill this way! They should not torture! The bear is a mystical creature, revengeful.'

Saata_Taas: 'Sadists, mentally ill people. It's disgusting, just horrible. More than this, they boast about their actions. Bastards, just filthy.'

Fester: 'Judging by the video, the fat layer of this is bear is normal. It moves slowly sluggishly. Did these stupid (people) drive it from its den just 'for fun'.'

But barga123 said: 'The bear was not hibernating, and had to be killed, before it came  to some village.'

Michilicop added: 'Should these shift workers should wait until this bear kills a human, then call to the emergency service who send someone to  kill it humanly and professionally? When the bear doesn't hibernate it will anyway die - by itself, or kill a human, and then will be shot  for this. There is no other way.'

The minister of Nature Protection in the republic, Sakhamin Afanasiev, said: 'I ordered the hunting department to conduct a thorough investigation and take appropriate action.

'We will announce the results of the check.'

I agree with everyone that this behavior is totally wrong, period and we have to stop these behaviors all over the world. Thank you to everyone who understands that as humans, we absolutely have to take responsibility for all of our behaviors and the impacts we are causing.

This is nothing more than an horrific example of sadistic animal cruelty. The monsters who committed this heinous act deserves nothing less than an eye for an eye.
May they burn in Hell for what they have done.

There must be another way to handle a non-hibernating bear, after all the way humans manipulate and intrude on natural law, creates many settings where animals or plants, etc., see a treacherous end. I have a hard time with the disgusting arrogance and lack of empathy that humans live with. Humans invade space where animals live, then cry when they get attacked, and act as if they are so utterly amazing, and not simply another type of animal. As modern or progressed as we may think we are, I see so much primal in us, and though we have created neat tools, we seem to lack wisdom of cooperation with nature, which we are ourselves. I wish together, we taught one another patience, and the ability to sense natural patterns of our wonderful earth, and beyond, and desire to seek a way of life that did not destroy so much, just for our own good.
