An act of Cod? Feast for locals in Sakhalin after fish fall off truck

People quick to the scene to gather up navaga from road in Dolinsk.

Around 1 ton of navaga - a small fish of the cod family - fell from the back of a lorry in Sakhalin. 

A video records the scene as locals arrived to grab their dinner. 

They collected the fish in plastic bags. 

One said: 'Good chance! The fish is very fresh, the tails are still moving.

'No need to go to Poronaisk for fishing this weekend.

The traditional for Sakhalin fishing of navaga started on 22 January, when shoals of fish began to approach the coast from the Sea of Okhotsk to spawn.
