'No threat to Russian citizens, the situation is under control'

Monitoring in the Russian Far East increased after a reported spike of radiation following an ‘incident’ of unclear origin in the South China Sea. 

Several news resources in the Primorye region of easter Russia and abroad reported a ‘nuclear explosion’ citing Wednesday story by Hal Turner Radio Show which today was dismissed as ‘fake’ by Gizmodo experts. 

A statement claiming the situation with radiation increase was under control was issued today by Rospotrebnadzor, Russia’s Federal Service for the Oversight of Consumer Protection and Welfare. 

‘According to information from the Global Network for Environmental Monitoring, there was an increase of background radiation in connection with a radiation incident. RosPotrebnadzor increases monitoring of the radiation situation in the adjacent border areas. There is currently no threat to the population of the Russian Federation’, the statement said. 

Today the Igor Belousov rescue ship left Vladivostok to carry long-distance sailing tasks. The crew of the rescue ship is set to take part in a joint Russian-Vietnamese training exercise aimed to help a grounded submarine.
