The Russian citizen wanted in his homeland for alleged involvement into four murders was arrested in Austria on 26 February. Vienna police spokesman Mario Hejl said the suspect was aged 38. He was identified only as Anatoly R., in keeping with Austrian privacy laws.
The Russian Interior Ministry's Siberian regional branch identified the man as Anatoly Radchenko, and said he is suspected of leading an organised criminal group that killed four people before 2004 Novosibirsk.
Investigators say the group was also involved in at least one attempted murder and several other crimes. The Russian investigation of the alleged criminal group, launched in 1999, made headlines after several local officials, including a former Novosibirsk deputy mayor, were arrested as suspects.
Archeologists discovered a new stone bracelet, two sharp pins, a marble ring and fox tooth pendants.
