Ahead of the 'Potholes in Colour' protest, some gaping holes in the streets were hastily patched up, sometimes only with gravel, they say. Campaigner Igor Sashov said: 'We went out on our campaign early in the morning so as not to interfere with the car traffic.
'We 'planted' artificial flowers to highlight the problem. We spared live plants. In total, we planted nearly 50 flowers on dozens of streets. With flowers and paint, we noted the most problematic areas. Our event was attended by about 30 people.'

He vowed: 'We will continue the action as long as the authorities do not repair the roads'.
