Siberian student becomes world champion in Thai boxing

His triumph in last month’s contest led him to becoming world champion in Thai boxing among students.

''Alexey performed in the weight category up to 75 kg,’ said the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Irkutsk region.

In the final, Fedotov defeated Ali Choukair from Lebanon.

The Russian was also awarded a special prize of Fair Play and Friendship.

He is a student at the Institute of Subsoil Use, Institute of Natural Resources, in Irkutsk.

He already has victories in Siberia and the Championship of Russia.

His coach Alexey Dolgikh, from the Thai Boxing Sports Club Siberia, said Fedotov has ‘good combat experience and is able to compete with leading fighters’.

In the team event, the Russian national team took second place.
