Viktoria Popova from Omsk was fired for posing in a pin-up style photoshoot.

The plight has inspired colleagues all over Russia to back her in posting pictures of themselves in swimwear with the hashtag #TeachersAreHumansToo

History teacher, 26, lost her job at number 7 city school after pictures of the shoot were posted by a model agency.

Parents saw the pictures and complained to the school superiors, who concluded that Viktoria let down her students and colleagues.

‘Viktoria Popova caused irreversible damage to the reputation of the teacher’, Omsk city hall official said.

Viktoria tried to fight back by saying the shoot aimed to emulate American 1950s pin-up style, and was model, but was asked to leave the school.

Her dismissal caused outrage on social media and among fellow teachers.

Omsk online community called Education Ombudsmen uniting more than 11,000 education professionals started #TeachersAreHumansToo flashmob.

Teachers from Omsk and other cities in Western Siberia and Russia post their holiday snaps, dressed in either swimsuits or light summer clothes.

The group admin said: ‘With this flashmob we want to support Viktoria from Omsk, who was fired for swimsuit photoshoot. It was not in any way indecent or intimate, it was just an ordinary set of pictures.

‘It is time to understand that teachers are humans, too, who have the same right to rest as other citizens. We want public to realize there is a problem with unfair scrutiny over teacher’s private, personal life which they have a right to have just like everyone else.

‘We are asking every teacher to join our flashmob in support of Viktoria so that we bring more attention to this case.'

To be honest, ALL of my teachers didn't look anything like these gals... they looked more like someone's grandmother...and looking at them in bikinis would have caused great psychological pain.

Hundreds of years ago Teachers had to wear all dark clothes and we're not allowed to smile. In 2018 Teachers should be allowed to smile and wear bathing suits. Only ISIS doesn't allow this.

Teachers all over the world are not only educators but many become critical front line responders in so many communities struggling to be healthy, safe, cared for as well as educated. We not only need to respect that they are human, we need to increase compensation and how we value and respect them. This applies in the United States as well. We have teachers here in the US on food stamps and having to go on strike as well as losing their jobs for protesting. In the overall scheme of things, if a few pictures of fun activities upsets people, I hope everyone will please be willing to reconsider.
