The school children showed their proficiency in knife fighting (using models) and sticks, spear throwing, grenade throwing, marching, and rifle shooting.

They also had to dismantle a Kalashnikov and wear gas mask.

this is not the traditions! this is not what the grandfathers taught us. for the Cossack, horse and blade are the blood and heart of our lives. we move and settle and move again, if you sit still for too long then you have surrendered the gift of freedom. do not tame our blood with silly games, we breath the air that chills the lungs and farm the land that only a strong family can tame! this is why white Russia will never be enslaved by red Russia.

We in the U.S. have many groups or clubs that reenact historical periods, of many eras; fur trading mountain men, French and Indian wars; war of independence, etc. parents and club members encourage the children to learn our history and learn skills like muzzle loading rifle shooting tomahawk and knife throwing, as well as modern hunting weapons and techniques. So for Siberian children to learn their history and develop skills should be thought a good thing around the world.

It is very beautiful young people showing to us the Cossack traditions. With this games we learn many things about history of Russia and Siberia. I like Siberia very much and I read this newspaper daily in my country.
