Police say drivers are taking huge risks and two separate tragedies on Lake Baikal have highlighted this.
'On the evening of 19 April, five men ignored basic safety measures which led to their SsangYong Istana van falling through the ice in the area of Cape Ulirba,' said police. 'Only three men managed to swim out, and two others died.'
A day later, a Lada Kalina car fell through the ice in almost exactly the same spot.
A 29 years old passenger managed to escape the sinking vehicle but the driver was trapped and died.
Archeologists discovered a new stone bracelet, two sharp pins, a marble ring and fox tooth pendants.
