The aircraft returned to Novosibirsk after a warning from the anti-icing system in what Itar-Tass called an 'emergency landing'. The plane with 148 passengers and crew left the city for Dubai at 8.15am local time on Wednesday and returned at 10.39am.

'A detector in control of the anti-icing system presumably activated, and the commander of the airliner decided to return to the airport of departure,' said Oksana Gorbunova, an aide to the West Siberian transport prosecutor.

'Passengers are waiting for a backup airliner which is already ordered from Moscow. The West Siberian prosecutor's office is conducting an inquiry.'

One child was among the passengers. There were seven crew on the plane.
