As people marked Christmas Day on January 7, tragic accidents led to the death of a miner in Kemerovo region while two died after an explosion in a lubricants storage facility above the Arctic Circle in Krasnoyarsk territory.

A rock fall led to a 21 year old being trapped underground at the Prokopyevskaya 7 coal mine. He was with seven other miners who escaped safely to the surface.
'One person was trapped by falling rocks. He was promptly pulled out. Unfortunately, he was already dead,' said a rescue service spokesman.

A special commission has been set up to investigate the accident.
Meanwhile at Essel village, Evenkia district in Krasnoyarsk region, two died when a blast ripped through a fuel and lubricants storage facility.
'The fire that followed the blast destroyed two petrol tankers,' said one source. Police blamed the flouting of safety rules. An investigation is now underway.
Archeologists discovered a new stone bracelet, two sharp pins, a marble ring and fox tooth pendants.
