Who needs a bridge when you can ride across the river like this...?

By The Siberian Times reporter
07 May 2013

Workers in northern Siberia have their own inventive way to cross a fast-flowing river.

Four or five men at a time from a long queue of workers are loaded onto the excavators with their luggage. Picture: The Siberian Times

The bridge builders are shown in this footage being ferried across the water in the 'buckets' of two giant excavators, clambering from one to the next as the machines swivel their passengers across the raging torrent.

Four or five men at a time from a long queue of workers are loaded onto the excavators - with their luggage.

They have to jump from one  giant shovel to the next at the point where the murky river is flowing at its fastest.

The half finished bridge the workers are building is seen in the background.
