A similar tragedy occurred at the same camp site in 2016 when another female victim climbed over the fence to feed the bear.

The unnamed woman suffered wounds to both arms and a video shot moments after the attack showed her face covered in blood as she lay on the ground moments after the attack.

The 27 year old camper is seen writhing and moaning from pain.

She was rushed to Amur regional hospital suffering from severe bleeding and pain shock.

Surgeons were unable to save her left arm which was amputated by doctors due to the severe damage caused by the wild bears.

The unnamed woman suffered wounds to both arms and a video shot moments after the attack showed her face covered in blood as she lay on the ground moments after the attack.

Igor Borodin, head of Traumatology department at Amur regional hospital, said her left arm was impossible to save due to ‘severe fragmentation’.

He said: ‘The left arm was amputated above the elbow.

‘Her right arm is also badly injured with large tear wounds.’

Surgeons managed to save this arm, he said.

The ‘zoo’ at Zelenaya camp site has an outer fence which is supposed to prevent tourists coming within touching distance of the predators in their cage.

Investigators are now checking the circumstances of the attack by the two bears to understand if a criminal offence was committed.

A similar tragedy occurred at the same camp site in 2016 when another female victim climbed over the fence to feed the bear.

A woman who filmed the victim claimed that  ‘she wasn’t even close to their cage’.

Another camper called Natalia  said she saw the victim and her group before the attack.

‘The bears never made us feel threatened.'

‘None of them were sober,’ she said.

‘I often stay here with my children, and we saw these fences around the bears ourselves.

‘The bears never made us feel threatened.

‘What happened to that poor woman is awful, but then how of earth did she get there?

‘I feel really sorry for the bears, too.’

An unnamed member of the ambulance team that rushed to the scene said the wounded woman was ‘drunk’, and suggested smell of alcohol could have triggered the attack.

In the wake of the attack the private ‘zoo’ was closed.

Why are these animals being caged at all? It looks like a rather awful environment for wild animals and probably this led the bear to become aggressive. And the woman sounds like a an unfortunate fool but she still should not have been able to have such close access to the poor bear
