Some reports said 23 were involved in the fight.

Samyshkin had a wife and son, aged five.

He died of head injuries, said Dmitry Chechulin, an official with the Investigative Committee.

A criminal investigation has been launched.

The rival fans had been battling over banners, flags and scarves that Sibir fans allegedly claimed from their rivals in September.

The Yenisey fans wanted them back and challenged Sibir supporters to a fight.

'Our daddy and my husband Edik perished on 18 November.

'He was a cheerful, positive and kind person, a loving father and the best ever husband.'

The battle was on 18 Novemeber but details of it did not emerge immediately.
