The glamorous 24 year old Omsk fighter shot her traumatic gun at the female passenger of another car. The bullet was embedded in the head of Kristina Eppinger, 19, but doctors removed it and she was not seriously wounded.

She confessed to aiming the gun at Ms Eppinger's boyfriend, who had failed to let her overtake. Instead she hit the woman in the temple who, after hospital treatment, complained to police.

Larissa Tsygal, spokeswoman for the Omsk branch of the Russian Interior Ministry, said: 'Kizhnerova fully admitted her guilt. Yesterday the Investigative Committee filed a criminal case against her.'

The local prosecutor's office said there were grounds 'to file a criminal case against the world champion in Thai boxing'.

Oleg Kudrinksy, president of Omsk Thai Boxing Federation, said he feared Kizhnerova's membership of the Russian national team was now in jeopardy.

Former coach Vitalyi Manchur said: 'She is a tough sports person....a tough nut.'

A female relative of the victim said: 'Kinzherova took out a gun and started shooting from her car, hitting (Kristina's) temple. At first, Kristina didn't understand what had happened until she was covered in blood.

'Her younger brother (a passenger in the car) was very scared, and started screaming and crying, He couldn't realise what had happened.'

The fighter was 'rude' and did nothing to help Ms Eppinger. 'Two girls who were with Oksana were scared, and gave her a towel to clean up the blood. The sportswoman was stood nearby as if nothing had happened - and she was swearing.

'After that Kristina's boyfriend took her to the nearest hospital, and the doctors called the police.' The world champion 'was very rude and saying she didn't care'. She insisted: 'Kristina won't let it go, she wants Kizhnerova to be held responsible.' She needed hospital treatment for a week, before being released.

The Omsk fighter, who became world champion in May 2014, has not commented on the road rage shooting. She is a member of the Russian national Thai boxing team, and a winner of the European Championships, and World Martial Arts Games.

The Minister of Sports in Omsk region Alexander Fabricius earlier attacked her behaviour. 'Certainly Kizhnerova will be reprimanded,' he said. 'Athletes, especially at this level should behave with dignity,' he said.
