Cruel images of tortured cats and dogs have caused deep shock in Khabarovsk after being posted on social media. The animals were beaten to death. The were struck with a bat, bound, stabbed, had their eyes gouged out, and hanged.

Users of anonymous internet-forum Dvach alleged that two girls from Khabarovsk were behind the cruelty. Their alleged private chat was revealed, where the female students, aged 21 and 17, discussed plans for taking animals from a shelter and killing them.

Then more details were found of how the pair allegedly took puppies from people looking for new owners for the pets. They were then unmasked as Alina Orlova, 20, and Alyona Savchenko, 17, who live in the same apartment block, and previously studied in the same lyceum.

Alina, daughter of an air force colonel, hit back saying: 'I would like to speak in my defence... I do not know who has put this stuff to the Internet - it is not the first time somebody wants to frame me. But I did not kill anyone and do not intend to kill ...'

She was hit by a storm of protest and abuse on her social media account, including death threats, say police.

Later she updated: 'I have turned to the police in connection with the threats and violence to my social media address over the violence against animals, which I did not commit. Please note that a check will be conducted and the persons who threatened me will be identified.'

Her mother has also denied her involvement.

Alina has pointed the finger of blame at her 'friend' Alyona alleging the images were 'photoshopped' to frame her. She said she had not spoken to Alyone for 'several months'.

But internet users say the images of tortured animals suggest involvement by Alina, who is a journalism student at  Pacific National University in Khabarovsk. Her distinctive tattoo on a hand is visible on the pictures, say online claims.

Alyona has not commented on the allegations. Her grandmother said that when the web buzz began, Alina came to see Alyona and the pair talked 'for a long time'. The following morning Alyona disappeared.

What people on hear fail to recognize because they are so in the system is that this is just evil satanic energy fed to these girls through popular culture manifesting itself. Pay attention to the messages communicated to us. They are the same in all countries. This is only going to get worse folks until he comes back not as a lamb but a judgmental raging lion and all will have to account for their actions and heart. Do some research and unplug and think critically always.

Omg I just love animals so much! And I can't understand how can people be so bad??? Do they have a heart or not... I guess no. This is so sick how people kill! I just always think, what would they feel if somebody did the same to them??? They just have to be in jail FOREVER!

Send them to that black dolphin place with all the rest of the nut bags, better yet put them in with one of the men, see how they like being at the mercy of some bigger, stronger psycopath.

Also disgusting to think there is any chance someone could get away with a crime just because of their relations, the law should not bend for anyone, even those who apparently enforce it.

This is not a criticism to russia specifically either, so often do people get away with animal related offences and are simply given banning orders (especially here in the UK) from them owning animals, or worse let off entirely, what kind of punishment is that, our ancestors did not take away ferocity of wolves so that we could take the first bite.

Only just seen this. Horrifying. Just goes to show that the stereotype of what a sociopath / psychopath looks like, is false, i.e. anyone can be a sociopath.

A couple of wimpy, sick psychopaths that torture beautiful innocent animals shouldn't be allowed to live. Rehabilitation won't work for these bitches,at least the girls in jail will sort them out if the public can't get to them first.

This is horrible. But maybe that girl is mental and needs to go to an asylum. But prison would be good enough.

These girls must be brought to justice, given harsh legal sentences, banned from keeping animals, and then given psychiatric help they obviously need. It has been proven that once humans indulge and enjoy animal cruelty it is then moved on higher and higher fix of children and adults I call on all the young people that know this girl and this town and the local colleges to bring this to everyones notice so that these people are watched monitored and brought to justice. That all the local leaders of colleges and schools are aware of this and the police and social workers. These people need to then be taken in hand by their parents and denied all privileges. These people are not safe to be in society. Her Grandmother may mean well, but this must be a national issue, - The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated. - Mahatma Gandhi and Siberia the world is watch your response to this.

Before sending them to prison give them each 20 lashes with an American bullwhip, modified with raised rivets in the fall, and the cloth or twine cracker replaced with steel wire. Those of you who are Russian know what those modifications turn the whip into... Can you say "КНУТ!" ("KNOUT!")?

They would have eventually moved on from helpless animals... maybe to helpless children. These women are more animal than their victims. I wish the punishment could match the crime.

I hope these two Monsters are brought to justice. Russian authorities need to act and send these two to jail. The world is watching. Disgusting abhorrent behavior.
