Or perhaps you prefer a more cosmic experience? A holiday at the world's largest spaceport, Vostochny Cosmodrome, now under construction in Amur region on the eastern fringes of Siberia. These gems for future bucket lists were floated by Russia's tourism chief  Oleg Safonov at the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok this week.

Such a glittering vacation could include scouring Siberia for your own diamonds, and perhaps visiting the world famous Mirny Mine, an open cast pit, the second largest excavated hole in the world.

'We need to consider the creation of industrial tourism,' he said, referring to some of the world's richest diamond mines in the Sakha Republic, also called Yakutia. 'Diamond-mining enterprises may become attractive facilities. There will be a lot of people who may be interested to see with their own eyes the process of diamond production.'

Safonov, head of Rostourism, or the Russian Federal Agency for Tourism, also wants the country's new spaceport to be open to visitors from home and abroad.

The satellites will provide Internet services to all corners of the globe. This news is a major boost to Russia's space industry, which has suffered a series of embarrassing launch failures in recent years. The first batch of 10 pilot satellites will be launched on a Soyuz rocket in late 2017. The remaining 20 launches will occur from 2017 to 2019.

'A tourist facility may be created on the basis of the Vostochny spaceport, which will be accessible for foreign tourists as well,' he said. 'The cosmodrome is a unique facility, such facilities can be counted on the fingers of one hand, they should be used in the tourism industry.' Vostochny's first unmanned launch is scheduled for December this year, with manned missions now expected in 2025.

There are other possibilities too for tourism in a vast region that has for decades neglected its potential, he made clear. 'We are accustomed to the fact that gastronomic tourism is primarily associated with the West, whereas the (Russian) Far East is home to unique fish species and game coupled with excellent ecological conditions.'

Enrique, promoting tourism is not simply about money making strategies it is also about cultivating appreciation for culture, heritage and landscape as well as respecting the ancient footprints on the soil of those that walked before us...in Ireland our entire coast is rugged and wild, our tourist industry blends with the natural beauty...worldwide it inspires, Siberia should stay as natural as possible, its raw beauty alone will bring tourists.

If the Hyperloop is successful, it could be very useful to connect Russian cities away from the main Moscow-Vladivostok vertebral column.

The development of Siberia is necessary. Siberians don´t need to live in small apartments with few bathrooms/toilets when there is a great opportunity for investment in infraestructure and business promoted by the Government. There is space for large national parks which also attract tourism the same way as in North America or Australia. And there is space for industrial development, the same way as in North Amerca or Australia.

I agree with Carmen; and say, "don't spoil the treasure you have already...by dumping on it".

The crab called chaka imported from The Russian Far East is well known in Spain and France. The modernization of Russian gastronomy by the best Russian chefs Will also attract tourism as in has done in Spain. Traditional Russian products well elaborated. Also it crearás a food industry with the elaborated dishes packed.
