Scientists are confident of extracting up to one gram of gold from each ton of coal burned in Amur region.

The gold bearing concentrate can be extracted captured by a newly patented device that can be fitted to the coal-burning boiler system of plants used to provide hot water to homes and factories.

The working principle of the device is that smoke from the burned coal passes a hundredfold cleaning system: first the impurities are washed with water, and then captured by filters.

This allows to get the gold-bearing concentrate, which can be passed for refining.

They found out that the coals especially brown from the Far East and Siberia contain many precious elements, and specifically each ton from Erkovetsky field, in Amur region, contains about one gram of gold.

'This means that millions of roubles are annually 'thrown to the wind' by each boiler of the region,' said a source.

General Director of 'Complex Innovative Technologies in Amur Scientific Centre', Oleg Ageev, said: 'If the device allows us to obtain half of gram of gold per one ton of coal, it is easy to count the economic effect.

'That is, one ton of burned coal will bring 1500 roubles.' Or $25. During the long Russian winters, one boiler can 'smoke' up to 10 kilograms of gold, which is more than 10 million roubles - $158,000.

The first black gold machine could be installed in a heating station boiler in Blagoveshchensk next autumn.

Deputy Chairman of the Amur Scientific Centre, Andrey Konyushok, said: 'The device is the first step to make coal not only a source of heat, but also a source of minerals... The brown coal produced in Amur Region is saturated with gold, silver, platinum group, as well as other metals.

'In fact, burning brown coal, we emit into the atmosphere a lot of useful components. Therefore, geologists believe: it is not efficient just to burn coal.'

suppose there will be no more shortages finding stokers for the boiler rooms....

This sounds like a very interesting technology. If I understand correctly, this will clean the air as well as provide a means to recover components currently going to the atmosphere? That would be very positive news.
