The angler identified as Pavel Shishkanov was killed by a young brown bear while fishing by the village of Tigil, north-west of Kamchatka peninsula in the Far East of Russia.
The bear followed the man into the river and dragged his victim out of water, killing the man and digging his body in the bushes.
A team of hunting experts and policemen found the predator guarding the body; the bear aged approximately two years was shot.
Results of the first examination of the site where the body was found showed that the fisherman tried to run away from the bear and jumped into the river, as his clothes were wet.
‘The bear must have caught him in the water, and dragged him out of the river. He shouldn't have ran… one must never run in such a situation.
'Grab a stick and scream, that’s the way’, said one of the hunting team's members who came to get the bear.
It is not clear yet if the fishermen who was identified as professional guide Pavel Shishkanov, 46, had a gun on him.

The village of Tigil is the largest living settlement in the north-west of Kamchatka peninsula with nearly 1500 people.
It is built on river Tigil, some 48km from where it flows into the sea of Okhotsk.
The village is 525km north from the regional capital Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
