The Russian president has again chosen Siberia for a break after an official visit this week to Krasnoyarsk. His spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin was living in 'camping conditions'.

'The president will be back to Moscow tomorrow (Friday) morning. On completion of his working schedule in Krasnoyarsk, he made a decision to spend one day in the countryside. He is in the taiga forest now. He spent last night there and will stay for one more, but tomorrow morning he will return to Moscow where he will have a routine working schedule.'

The Kremlin spokesman said the president was 'hiking'. Local reports suggested he was in Ust-Abakan district, famed for its hunting lodges. There was speculation he is in the company of close colleague Sergei Shoigu, the defence minister, a native of the Siberian Republic of Tuva.

'I cannot say anything about Shoigu. I have no information on that score, because this day off is part of the president's private schedule,' said Peskov. 'I just do not know.'

The temperature in the region is slightly below zero.

It is not the first time Putin has chosen the Siberian wilderness for a brief holiday. In 2014 he took a day off on his birthday, 7 October 7 in Siberia some  300-400 kilometres away from the nearest locality.

The previous year Putin in July spent a holiday in Tuva and Khakassia in the company of Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu. On this occasion, Peskov said Putin had caught a 21 kg pike on a spinning rod.

In Tyva, Putin and Shoigu went for a day to the mountain lake Tokpak-Hol. 'The next day Putin moved to a tiny lake, Tokpak-Hol, where no human being had ever set foot, and had great fishing,' he said.

On 1 March, Putin chaired a conference in Krasnoyarsk devoted to the 29th Winter Universiade in 2019 which the city will host.

Mr Putin is the example of humanity and he knows life. Only the ones who can compare good and bad, cold and warm, hunger and 'I've eaten enough' know life and are fighting for it. They do not want wars, they know the outcomes of the wars. Russian people love their homeland and are proud of being Russian. This shows in mentality of Vladimir Putin. He is a typical Russian man and so far, it looks like the top politician in the world. He knows, that nature gives peace and the best advice to all of us. Be yourself Vladimir and your birthday is one day after mine, so you are Libra and this means a lot.

I love the woods it seems like the quiet is nice, good place to think while withstanding the elements makes us tough seems like the woods can become apart of you I lived deep in the Appalachian mountains I lived deep in the smoky mountains there's this strong pull Its hard to explain you can actually become sick if you feel the pull and you don't return often enough it feels like loosing a part of you u can only understand if your a true outdoorsman,or outdoorslady

Good choice by Putin

The Siberian people impressed me above all other regions in Russia, when I spent 4-5 months in 1996, assessing 55 companies for an EBRD $200 million investment programme.

Putin is a man's man. Bozo is just a pretend person with a pretend husband. Huge difference in a man who loves the outdoors and a fairy who only plays with little balls(other people's that is).

Putin loves the Russian countryside and the Russian people and shows it every chance he can.

As a citizen of U.S.A. I am thankful for the opportunity to be part of the generation of Mr.Trump AND Mr.Putin.Too many people want a WAR.Thank goodness these two gentlemen can see beyond the choke hold of the elite. I would LOVE to be Ambassador in Russia.Fear has controlled both countries far too long.

In my opinion it's really very well to be in Siberia...no people near and real camping...when other presidents go to posh places and wait evryting will be carried to them. President Putin is a real man, not spoiled with the power he has. Leiah Sariell P.S. These places are very beloved for me. The best way is to be alone for me.
