Tuva worst for life expectancy in Russia, despite its pristine mountain air and lack of pollution

The average age of men in the Tuva republic in southern Siberia is a shocking 56.63, show the latest figures.

The most famous living Tuvan, Russian defence minister Sergei Shoigu, is now 62, more than five years older than the male average.

Women in the region live to a mean age of 61.79 and the average for both sexes is 61.79, the lowest in Russia. 

The republic has the seventh lowest population density in Russia, and is known for pollution-free mountain air, virgin forests and gushing rivers. 

Chukotka, where men live to 58.84 and women 66.62, has the second lowest life expectancy, averaging 62.32.

Next lowest is the Jewish Autonomous region in the Russian Far East, with men living to 59.49 and women to 71.35, an average of 65.20.

In contrast, the mountainous regions of the Caucasus - Ingushetia and Dagestan come out on top with average life expectancy of 80.8 and 77.2 respectively. 

In Moscow, the average is 77.

Mostly the bad habit of life will decrease the rate of the expectancy life index.
